Easter
Is it necessary to celebrate Easter?
Every year during this season. there is a debate going on, on the above subject
The answer will be clear only when we understand What Easter is all about?
What is Easter?
Easter is celebrated all over the world as a remembrance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
When a group of women went to the tomb of Jesus on Sunday morning, they saw angels instead of Jesus and they told them :
Luke24:6 “He is not here, but He is risen.”
God’s purpose
Genesis 3:15 says, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Jesus came to this world to crush the head of satan and it happened on Calvary.
Why Jesus had to crush the head of satan?
Because he caused man to be separated from God. It was the plan of God to redeem the lost man by defeating satan for ever. Jesus did it perfectly well at the end of his life on earth.
Why Jesus is risen from death...?
There are many reasons. To understand the meaning of Easter, only few relevant points are mentioned here
-
To prove that He is victorious over satan.
-
To make it clear that every man has a life after death
-
To show that man can also be victorious over satan by defeating him
-
To encourage those who believe in Him that He would come back again to receive those who are victorious over satan.
-
To teach us that it is not this world a permanent place for us. we are just foreigners here for a temporary period and we need to go back to our original place - The Kingdom of Heaven.
Our life on this earth will determine our destiny - whether we will be entering the Kingdom of Heaven or end up in hell fire.
The word of God clearly teaches us in
Matthew 10:22 : “but he that endureth to the end shall be saved”.
How to celebrate Easter?
Easter marks the end of lent period. Many people are celebrating Easter with a great feast to mark the end of lent period. However, a great feast may not be a bad idea in terms of the joy of the resurrection of Jesus from dead.
It is a time of joy -
Because Jesus is victorious over, satan and death, He gave hope to the hopeless, He promised us that when He goes back, He would send Holy Spirit to this world to lead us in truth and righteousness.
It is a time we need to humble ourselves in the presence of God, having witnessed the power, greatness and glory of God through Jesus.
It is a time to dedicate ourselves before the LORD
It is a time to remember the Love of God that never dies but lives forever.
It is a time to share the Good news of Jesus to the whole world.
It is a time to prepare ourselves to welcome the second coming of Jesus because it will happen so soon.
Acts1:11 “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
A child of God will have a great role in imparting the above in the life of believers.
Awake and do not sleep. It’s Easter. Jesus is Risen
What is the relevance of Easter in our life?
Do you believe in Jesus? Easter has an integral part in your life. It gives a hope and confidence that you are not believing in a dead person but a person who is alive. Only a person who is alive can see you, hear you and answer your prayers. An idol cannot see, hear or be able to help you in any way.
In my personal experience, Jesus speaks to me every day, He guides me, corrects me, rebukes me, hugs me and I can feel his presence. During our ministry hundreds of people had the privilege to see Jesus face to face alive and speaking to them personally. On a Palm Sunday as God guided I was visiting an old church near Cheru Vettukadu in Trivandrum, there came an old lady with heart problem and other physical illness. As I placed my hand on her, she saw Jesus on the cross alive and blessing her. A second time, Jesus spoke to her saying He wants to heal her. What a wonderful experience! This lady never had such an experience any time in her life.
If you are a child of God, you must remember and celebrate Easter to give glory to God.
Believe! Jesus is alive. He is risen from the dead as the firstborn.
Happy Easter.
MAY GOD BLESS US ALL
